The Art of Jan Chandler Garbero |
The art of Jan Chandler Garbero shows a wide range of her talents, painting in oils and acrylics, drawing in pencils and pastels, and computer designing. The interest in golf inspired her golf art with experimental techniques in the laying down of paint with golf- swing stokes creating an abstract design and finishing touches of realism. The artist’s love of the west can be seen in the Olive Oatman series showing the major events in the capture of Olive Oatman in the 1850’s. A series of eight art works are presented in a realistic style using oil paints and color pastels. Garbero studied fine arts at Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, in the late 1960’s graduating with a B.S. in Fine Arts Education. She taught art in public schools in Ohio for 7 years. She moved to Arizona in pursuit of warmer climate along with the inspiration that came with the territory.
